Ezra Tucker established his career as an independent painter by painting wildlife, most notably large mammals but also birds. More recently, along with the Black Lives Matter movement, he has focused on the historic Black experience in The American West. Over the years, Tucker produced award-winning images for advertisements promoting a multitude of America’s Fortune 500 Corporations and Hollywood Studios. These include paintings of Clydesdales for Budweiser, illustrations for a novel for the Lucas Films Star Wars franchise, and the image for the memorable poster to promote Paramount Pictures’ re-release of the ”Ten Commandments.” His body of work also includes a plethora of other recognizable images for Bank of America, Chevron, Coca-Cola, CBS Records, Disney, Levi-Strauss, Lockheed, MGM Studios, National Forest Service, Outdoor Life Magazine, Pepsi, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, and Universal Studios, to name but a few.
Ezra Tucker has said, “a successful work of fine art should be educational, inspirational, and entertaining and evoke an emotional response from the viewer.” When painting wildlife imagery, the artist maintains an environmental ethic: “I hope that my work . . . inspires people to undertake the conservation efforts necessary to protect the endangered animal kingdom of our planet.” Among his paintings of the Black experience in The American West, “Called To Duty,” has been praised for its depiction of troops from The United States Army 10th Cavalry, the first of six Black regiments nick-named Buffalo Soldiers by Native Americans, along with other historically important figures such as “Bass Reeves – US Marshal.”
Ezra Tucker is represented by galleries nationwide including several near his home and studio in Colorado: The Broadmoor Galleries in Colorado Springs; Wild Horse Gallery in Steamboat Springs, CO; and Trailside Galleries in Jackson Hole, WY. Paintings by Ezra Tucker are internationally collected by private collectors, and corporate collectors; as well as government, e.g. The Pentagon’s U.S. Air Force Art Program, Washington, D.C. Museum collections which contain his work include The Briscoe Western Art Museum in San Antonio, TX; The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art in St. Petersburg, FL; and The Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA. Paintings by Ezra Tucker are routinely featured in group exhibitions such as those of The Society of Animal Artists which can trace its roots back to the Bronx Zoo and The Salmagundi Art Club on Fifth Avenue in New York City, and the America’s Parks exhibition series produced by David J. Wagner, L.L.C. THE ART OF EZRA TUCKER, is his first traveling museum exhibition.
